Internal Diseases department deals with assessment of internal organ systems of individuals who have left the childhood period behind. Treatment and diagnosis services are rendered for dysfunctions of organs that covered by this system. In addition, it informs and guides every individual, who are provided with healthcare services, in order to take measures against diseases.

Internal disease department is one of the major disciplines in the medicine. It deals with diagnosis and treatment of digestive system, hormonal system, heart, lung, kidney and blood diseases as well as cancer and rheumatoid and allergic diseases, and health and diseases of geriatric patients.

Internal Medicine is a discipline which forms a basis for all clinical branches. The health problems of the vast majority of patients, presenting to healthcare facilities, fall into the field of internal medicine. It covers a very wide spectrum, such as upper and lower respiratory tract diseases, hypertension, gastrointestinal system diseases, kidney diseases, thyroid diseases, and diabetes and rheumatic diseases.

Internal Medicine is a discipline that consists of six major divisions.

These divisions are as follows:

  2. Endocrinology (Hormone Diseases)
  3. Gastroenterology (Digestive System Diseases)
  4. Oncology (Benign Tumors and Cancer Diseases)
  5. Rheumatology (Rheumatic Diseases)
  6. Nephrology (Kidney Diseases and Hypertension)

Apart from the above-mentioned six divisions, it undertakes a guiding role in diseases related to general surgery, Neurology (Brain and Nervous Diseases), Psychiatry, Infection Diseases, Chest Diseases (Pulmonary Diseases) and Cardiology (Heart and Vascular Diseases).
